Computing & company research

Every problem has a moment.

Moment Unit is a small studio for big, tangled problems. We dig into the companies, markets and systems behind them, find the point where one careful push moves everything, and then we push.

Bring us a problem How it works

01 Method

How a problem moves.

Four states, one push. Keep scrolling and the field will act it out.

  1. 01 / 04Tangle

It shows up as a knot.

Half the facts are missing and the other half disagree. There is a system nobody fully understands, a market that moved last quarter, and a decision due Friday. Good. That is our favorite place to start.

  2. 02 / 04Map

    We map the terrain.

Companies, markets, codebases, people. Who does what, what connects to what, and what is actually true. We read the filings, run the numbers and pull the logs until the real shape of the thing shows up.

  3. 03 / 04Moment

    We find the moment.

In physics, a moment is force times distance. It is why a long lever lets a small push lift a heavy load. Every hard problem has a point like that, where one well placed effort turns the whole thing. Finding it is the job.

  4. 04 / 04Ship

We build it. We ship it.

Software, data systems, research briefs, a recommendation you can act on Monday morning. Tested, documented and handed over tidy, so the last piece clicks into place and stays there.

02 Work

Two disciplines. One desk.

Most studios pick a lane: build the software, or do the research. We do both, because the hard problems usually need both.

A

Computing

Software and systems for problems that don’t come in a box.

  • Custom software and internal tools
  • Data pipelines, models and analysis
  • Automation for the spreadsheet with forty tabs
  • Infrastructure and security reviews
  • Rescue work on systems nobody wants to touch

B

Company research

The homework, done properly, before the big decision.

  • Due diligence on companies and deals
  • Market and competitor mapping
  • Industry deep dives
  • Management and operator research
  • Plain English briefings for the people who decide

A + B

The in-between

The best problems sit between the two: a research question that needs code to answer, or a system that needs someone to go and find out what is actually true. Bring us those.

03 House rules

No platforms. No “lab of the future.” Just the desk, the craft and the next clean release.

  1. 01

    Tidy work.

We leave every codebase, model and memo cleaner than we found it.

  2. 02

    The careful push.

Measure twice. Then push like we mean it.

  3. 03

    Earned words only.

We don’t invent categories we haven’t earned, and we won’t sell you a buzzword.

  4. 04

    Built like a bench.

Sturdy, plain and still useful long after we’ve gone home.

04 The desk

The people on the desk.

Seven of us. First names. Clear roles.

05 Contact

Got a knot?

Send us the hard one. If we are not the right people to untangle it, we will say so and point you to someone who is.
